A.    Job Purpose
•    Oversee and coordinate all aspects of fleet maintenance planning within the engineering department of Air India, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, operational efficiency, and strategic objectives. 
•    Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, optimizing resource utilization, and maintaining operational integrity.
B. Key Accountabilities
•    Oversee and manage all documentation procedures within the engineering planning department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
•    Develop and oversee comprehensive maintenance plans for the airline's fleet of aircraft to ensure airworthiness and operational efficiency.
•    Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to schedule and prioritize aircraft maintenance activities in alignment with operational requirements.
•    Monitor and analyze aircraft maintenance data to identify trends, optimize maintenance schedules, and improve overall fleet performance.
•    Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and manufacturer recommendations in all maintenance planning activities.
•    Manage maintenance budgets and resources effectively to support operational goals and minimize aircraft downtime.
•    Lead a team of maintenance planners and coordinators to ensure timely and accurate execution of maintenance plans.
•    Develop and implement maintenance forecasting models to anticipate future maintenance needs and optimize resource allocation.
•    Fulfill any other job responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Planning or senior management, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the fleet management operations within the engineering department.
Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.

E. Key Interfaces

Internal Interfaces
Engineering Department    
•    Collaborate with aircraft engineers and technicians to coordinate maintenance schedules and procurement requirements.

Procurement Department    
•    Engage with procurement managers to source aircraft parts, tools, and maintenance services required for fleet maintenance and planning.

External Interfaces
Aircraft Manufacturers and Suppliers    
•    Communicate with aircraft manufacturers to obtain technical support, maintenance manuals, and service bulletins.
 
F. Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education requirements    
•    Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field.
•    A master's degree or advanced certification in aviation management or engineering is preferred.

Experience    
Minimum    
•    6-7 years of experience in aircraft fleet planning, maintenance, or engineering, preferably within the airlines.    
Desired
•    8+ Extensive experience in aircraft fleet planning, maintenance, or engineering roles within the aviation industry, preferably with a focus on large commercial airlines.
