Associate Manager- Ops & Compliance
Position Title: Cargo Operations & Compliance Specialist - International Region
Function: Commercial

Reporting To: RCM - International Region (administrative) & AVP - Cargo Operations (functional)
Job Purpose
Manage cargo operations across the assigned region, ensuring alignment with Air India's commercial objectives, operational standards, and regulatory requirements. Drive operational excellence, safety, compliance, customer service, and cost efficiency while optimizing cargo capacity, shipment movement, and service delivery.
Key Accountabilities
Regional Operations Management
- Oversee cargo operations across assigned markets, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, local requirements, and operational standards.
- Monitor operational KPIs, FSUs, safety metrics, and service performance; identify and address discrepancies and process gaps.
- Ensure adherence to safety, security, and dangerous goods handling requirements; lead investigations and corrective actions for operational incidents.
Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Implement and maintain cargo operating procedures, policies, and performance standards aligned with local and international regulations.
- Support strategic initiatives, process improvements, and operational excellence programs across the region.
- Conduct operational reviews, audits, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to Air India, IATA, ICAO, and local regulatory standards.
Cost & Resource Management
- Support annual budgeting and resource planning for the region.
- Monitor operating costs and drive cost optimization initiatives without compromising safety, compliance, or service quality.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Support and guide regional operations teams, promoting accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with commercial, finance, network, customer service, and other cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
- Coordinate effectively with freight forwarders, GHAs, customers, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth cargo operations.
Contingency & Emergency Response
- Develop and implement contingency plans for operational disruptions and emergencies.
- Coordinate timely response and recovery actions with internal and external stakeholders.

Education & Experience
Education Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Aviation Management, or a related discipline.
Experience
Minimum
- 10-12 years of experience in cargo operations, logistics, transportation, or airline cargo environments.
- Experience managing shipments, cargo handling activities, inventory, and external service providers such as freight forwarders and GHAs.
Preferred
- 15+ years in airline cargo operations.
- Experience in operations leadership, team management, and process improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency in cargo management systems and technology-enabled operational solutions, with a demonstrated track record of improving efficiency through automation and process optimization.
