Job Purpose 

  • Coordinate and execute cargo handling and logistics activities at international stations to ensure timely, accurate, and secure movement of shipments.
  • Enforce and monitor compliance with ICAO, IATA, local regulatory requirements, and Air India operational standards through audits, documentation checks, and corrective actions.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by resolving operational escalations, tracking performance against SLAs, and implementing process improvements.To monitor inventory levels, track 

Key Accountabilities

Operational Coordination

  • Collaboration: Work with internal departments, freight forwarders, and ground handling agents to plan and coordinate cargo shipments effectively.
  • Routing and Allocation: Determine optimal routing, capacity allocation, and equipment utilization to enhance efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Compliance and Safety

    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with international and domestic regulations, customs requirements, and security protocols.
    • Safety Adherence: Adhere to safety protocols, security regulations, and hazardous materials handling procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

    Process Optimization

    • Identification of issues: Identify and resolve operational issues and discrepancies related to cargo handling, transportation, and documentation.
    • Continuous Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to optimize cargo operations processes, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.

Cross-functional Linkages

  • Collaborate with various departments within the organization, such as airport operations, customs, and logistics teams, to ensure seamless coordination of cargo operations.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to manage inventory levels of cargo supplies and equipment, ensuring smooth operations without shortages or disruptions.
  • Coordinate with the customer service department to address customer inquiries, complaints, and requests related to cargo handling promptly and efficiently.
  • Engage with the operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth cargo handling, booking, and delivery processes

Freight Forwarders and Ground Handling Agents

  • Interact with freight forwarders and ground handling agents to plan and coordinate cargo shipments effectively.
  • Communicate with external partners to optimize routing, capacity allocation, and equipment utilization, ensuring efficient and cost-effective cargo operations.
  • Collaborate with these stakeholders to resolve operational issues and discrepancies related to cargo handling, transportation, and documentation promptly.

Customers 

  • Interface with customers to provide exceptional service, address inquiries, and resolve issues, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their needs and requirements, ensuring cargo operations meet or exceed their expectations.
  • Provide customers with accurate and timely information regarding cargo shipments, documentation, and delivery schedules
  • Interface with customers to provide exceptional service, address inquiries, and resolve issues, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Regulatory Authorities

  • Engage with regulatory authorities, including customs and aviation authorities, to ensure compliance with international and domestic regulations, customs requirements, and security protocols.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals for cargo operations, always ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Aviation Management can also be suitable.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in managing cargo operations within the cargo, logistics, or transportation industry.
  • Candidates should have a demonstrated history of coordinating shipments, managing inventory, and liaising effectively with freight forwarders and ground handling agents.

Desired 

  • 8+ years in the aviation industry, particularly within airline cargo operations, is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in operations supervision, team leadership, and cargo management is highly beneficial. Ideal candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using cargo management software and technological tools, with a proven track record in managing teams or projects that enhance operational efficiency through process improvements, automation, and technology integration in cargo operations
