Role Level: CXO-3

A. Job Purpose

  • Handle GST & customs litigations, including appearances before tax authorities.
  • Draft replies to SCNs, appeals, and submissions.
  • Manage GST audits across India.
  • Review monthly and annual return workings.
  • Review vendor agreements (domestic & foreign).
  • Prepare representations and advocate at government/Ministry forums.
  • Classify products with proper justification.
  • Develop tax simulations/models for transactions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for GST compliance and financial closing.

B. Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure efficient indirect tax function.
  • Timely and accurate tax payments.
  • Optimize indirect tax cash flow.
  • Manage indirect tax risk across business processes.
  • Increase technology use for compliance.
  • Minimize litigation and reduce outsourced costs.

  • Strong indirect tax experience and technical expertise.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to identify risks and escalate appropriately.
  • Commercial awareness and focus.
  • Strong relationship management and team collaboration.
  • Research, drafting, and litigation skills.

E. Key Interfaces

Internal:

  • Tax Team – align objectives, provide updates.
  • Cross-Functional Teams (Integration, Transformation, Corporate/Group Planning) – collaborate on priorities, assessments, and strategy.

External:

  • Ministries/Tax Authorities – representation in tax matters.
  • Consultants – technical discussions on transactions.

F. Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Chartered Accountant with 7–10 years of experience.
  • Proficient in GST & Customs law.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word, and Presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience handling GST & Customs authorities.
  • Preferred: SAP knowledge, airline industry experience.
