Senior Associate - Cargo Operations
Job Description
A. Key Accountabilities
Core roles & Responsibilities
• Monitor routine cargo operations, address irregularities, and maintain comprehensive records.
• Support monthly performance reviews by tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of GHAs.
• Support routine station inspections, both remotely and onsite, to ensure compliance with established standards.
• Support data consolidation and analysis to drive operational insights.
• Monitor and report on deviations to operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines.
• Support in seamless communication between internal teams and Ground Handling Agents (GHAs) to ensure efficient cargo operations.
• Provide any guidance to GHAs in alignment with Air India’s operational standards.
Operational Coordination
• Collaboration: Work with internal departments, freight forwarders, and ground handling agents to plan and coordinate cargo shipments effectively.
• Routing and Allocation: Determine optimal routing, capacity allocation, and equipment utilization to enhance efficiency and minimize costs.
• Documentation: Prepare and verify accurate cargo documentation, including airway bills, customs forms, and export/import documentation.
Compliance and Safety
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with international and domestic regulations, customs requirements, and security protocols.
• Safety Adherence: Adhere to safety protocols, security regulations, and hazardous materials handling procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Process Optimization
• Issue Identification: Identify and resolve operational issues and discrepancies related to cargo handling, transportation, and documentation.
• Continuous Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to optimize cargo operations processes, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.

B. Educational and Experience Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Aviation Management can also be suitable.
Experience (Minimum)
• 2-3 years of experience in managing cargo operations within the cargo, logistics, or transportation industry.
• Candidates should have a demonstrated history of coordinating shipments, managing inventory, and liaising effectively with freight forwarders and ground handling agents.
Experience (Desired)
• 5+ years in the aviation industry, particularly within airline cargo operations, is highly advantageous.
• Experience in operations supervision, team leadership, and cargo management is highly beneficial. Ideal candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using cargo management software and technological tools, with a proven track record in managing teams or projects that enhance operational efficiency through process improvements, automation, and technology integration in cargo operations.
