Medical Officer
Purpose
To have oversight of the medical services functions, requirements and activities in the division and to
provide analysis, guidance and recommendations pertaining to various functions of medical services.
Responsibilities and Scope
In assuring that the Air India's Medical Services functions and objectives are met effectively and
adequate planning is done for future requirements and to tide over emergency requirements.
Principal Accountability
i) Maintaining oversight on compliance for regulatory and legal requirements on aviation medical issues.
ii) Coordinating with internal stakeholders for seamless application of medical issues related policies.
iii) Evaluating, analysing and providing data on various functions and aspects of medical services.
iv) Preparing budgetary and manpower requirements for medical services and ensuring cost effective operation of the medical services division.
v) Being a member of the medical incident monitoring/investigating team, as required from time to time.
vi) Providing predictive inputs in relation to medical services functions to departmental meetings
vii) Liaising with various internal departments regarding medical issues.
viii) Other duties may be assigned by the Chief Medical Officer/Chief Manager
Training Requirements
Medical Officers will be required to attend trainings/meetings conducted by DGCA in relation to aircrew and cabin crew medical evaluation, pre-flight medical for alcohol breathalyser policies etc. to gain deeper understanding of
the subject.
i) Mandatory Training
MBBS qualification from MCI recognised college/university and valid medical registration with any
state medical council of any Indian state.
ii) Optional Training
Appropriate industry standard training in Aerospace/Aviation Medicine or MD Aerospace Medicine. Appropriate training in other fields as determined in conjunction with Head of Medical service,AI
Job Scope
i First aid training as per DGCA requirements.
ii Ensure DGCA policy compliance ensured for pre-flight and post flight medicals of crew members.
iii) Evaluating, analysing and advising on medical incident reports.
iv) Fulfilling training requirements of crew members regarding first aid and aviation medical issues.
v) Being a member of various departmental meetings on medical issues.
vi) MEDA case clearance and resolution of customer medical clearance queries.
vii) Pre Employment medical fitness issuance.
viii) Class-2 medical fitness requirement for cabin crew
ix) Liaising with service providers, regulators and external safety agencies, on medical matters on behalf of CSQE Department.
x) Providing oversight for the smooth operation and/or execution of medical services functions.
xi) Aircraft medical supplies kits certification.
xii) Other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Medical Service,AI
