  1. Job Purpose
  • To support the team in shaping the airline’s route network strategy, optimizing fleet deployment, and ensuring profitability across domestic and international markets.
  1. Key Accountabilities
  • Route Development & Strategy
    • Identify and evaluate new route opportunities based on market demand, profitability, and strategic fit.
    • Recommend frequency adjustments and aircraft deployment to optimize network performance.
    • Support long-term network growth aligned with Air India’s strategic vision.
  • Market & Competitor Analysis
    • Conduct detailed analysis of passenger traffic flows, yield trends, and competitive activity.
    • Monitor industry developments, alliances, and regulatory changes impacting Air India’s network.
    • Conduct field research in collaboration with sales and airline marketing teams of various airports
  • Fleet & Schedule Optimization
    • Collaborate with scheduling and slots team high quality schedule design, connections and efficient aircraft utilization.
    • Balance connectivity requirements with operational feasibility and slot availability.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Use forecasting models, traffic data, and revenue performance metrics to support decision-making.
    • Prepare presentations and reports for senior management on network performance and recommendations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to align network planning with overall business objectives.
    • Represent route planning in various cross functional workshops to deliver and defend the strategy and rationale behind network changes and schedule enhancements

Head – Route Planning

  • Directly report, providing regular updates and receiving strategic guidance.

Revenue management & sales

  • Collect and process feedback received from various teams & incorporate into the planning and strategy development process
  • Collaborate to ensure that route planning aligns with broader network strategies and revenue goals.

Rest of network planning

  • Collaborate in data crunching and enabling effective decision making

  1. Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a data-driven analytical role, preferably with specific experience in airline route planning.
  • 5+ years of experience in an airline environment focusing on network planning and strategic development.
