A.Job Purpose

  • To lead the development and implementation of training programs focused on human factors in aviation, aiming to enhance safety, efficiency, and performance in flight operations.
  • To oversee the integration of human factors principles into all training modules, ensuring that crew and ground staff are well-equipped to manage the complexities of human behavior and interactions within aviation environments.

B,Key Accountabilities

Curriculum Development and Enhancement

  • Develop and continuously improve training curricula that incorporate the latest research and best practices in human factors. Ensure that training materials meet regulatory requirements and are adapted to the needs of Air India’s operations.
  • Promote mental health awareness for staff engaged with Flight Operations.      

Training Delivery Oversight

  • Oversee the delivery of human factors training programs, ensuring that they are engaging, effective, and comprehensively cover safety, communication, decision-making, and workload management.

Research and Innovation

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in human factors research and training methodologies. Implement innovative training techniques that enhance learning outcomes and operational performance.

Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone
project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.

  • Directly report and align human factors training initiatives with broader technical training strategies.

Flight Operations Team

  • Collaborate to ensure training programs support operational needs and enhance overall safety and efficiency.

Safety and Compliance Teams

  • Work with safety officers to integrate human factors principles into safety management systems.

Training Academy

  • Collaborate with the training academy to develop and refine human factors training curricula, ensuring that programs are up-to-date, comprehensive, and aligned with current industry practices.
  • Work with the training academy to train and support instructors in human factors disciplines, enhancing their ability to deliver high-quality training effectively.

External Interfaces

Regulatory Authorities

  • Ensure training programs comply with all relevant aviation regulations and standards. Engage in discussions to stay updated on regulatory changes affecting human factors training.

Educational Institutions and Experts

  • Collaborate with academic institutions and industry experts to incorporate the latest research and methodologies into training programs.

 

  1. Educational and Experience Requirements

 

Minimum Education requirements

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Human Factors Engineering, Aviation Safety, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in aviation training, with a significant focus on human factors and safety training.
  • 8+ years of Leadership experience in managing training programs, with demonstrated success in developing and implementing comprehensive human factors training initiatives.
