Manager - Cargo IT
Job Description
A. Job Purpose
• To lead digital transformation projects in cargo operations, aligning IT strategies with Air India's business goals and driving innovation.
• To streamline operations through advanced IT solutions, including warehouse management and cargo tracking systems, enhancing efficiency and resource allocation.
• To collaborate with internal teams to identify and implement automation opportunities, monitoring system performance to optimize operations.
• To establish partnerships with technology providers to ensure the adoption of industry-standard solutions, managing IT budgets effectively while staying current with technological advancements.
B. Key Accountabilities
Strategic Planning and Execution
• Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy for cargo operations, encompassing automation, digitalization, and innovation.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define the vision and target opportunities enabled by IT solutions and digital analytics.
• Lead the design, implementation, and integration of automation systems and technologies across cargo operations.
Performance Monitoring and Analysis
• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cargo automation, analyzing data insights to measure system performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement corrective actions to optimize system performance, enhance efficiency, and mitigate operational bottlenecks.
• Assess the ROI of IT interventions and automation initiatives, tracking cost savings and revenue growth.
Vendor Management and Collaboration
• Liaise with external vendors and technology providers to evaluate, select, and implement suitable IT solutions, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and adherence to industry standards.
• Foster strategic partnerships with third-party vendors to promote the digital vision of the organization and drive innovation in cargo operations.
Team Leadership and Development
• The individual should be able to drive a change management process
D. Key Interfaces (Internal)
Operations Department: Collaborate with the Head of Operations to align IT strategies with operational goals and objectives.
IT Department: Coordinate with the IT department to ensure seamless integration of new IT solutions with existing systems.
A. Key Interfaces (External)
Technology Vendors: Engage with IT vendors and technology providers to evaluate and implement suitable solutions for cargo operations.
Regulatory Authorities: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements governing cargo operations
Minimum Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree in IT/IS, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field.
Experience (Minimum)
• ~5 years of experience in airline IT vendors or airline industry, with a focus on implementing new IT solutions.
• Total around 10 years -Prior experience in deploying new IT systems and planning IT implementations.
• Airline Experience is a must
• Track record of successful vendor management and strategic partnerships in the IT domain.
