Job Description

Position Title: Head - QMS Auditing

Function: SSQ Function (Safety, Security & Quality)

Job Purpose:

Responsible for overseeing and managing the audit function vertical within Air India Quality Management System Department.
Lead a team of auditors and being responsible for coordinating, and executing various types of QMS audits and inspections, including station audits, departmental audits, external service providers audits, , and other relevant assessments.

Key Accountabilities:

QMS – Auditing:

Lead teams to coordinate and conduct internal and external audits to assess compliance with the QMS and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure that audits are performed in accordance with established procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate audit activities, including pre-audit preparations, audit execution, and post-audit follow-up actions.
Review audit findings and recommendations, providing guidance and support to auditors when needed.
Ensure auditors are reviewing and as required validating corrective action plans submitted by respective auditees, ensuring they address the root causes and are feasible and time bound.
Conduct special investigations or targeted audits as required by management or regulatory authorities.
Lead teams to conduct thorough risk assessments to identify high-risk areas and prioritize audits based on their significance and potential impact on safety, quality, and compliance.
Ensure auditors are kept updated with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to auditing and compliance.
Participate in external audits, including IOSA audits, station audits, and other international audit requirements as directed by VP-Group QMS.
Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented to address non-conformities and improve overall quality performance.
Give input for agenda for Senior Management Review meetings and Management Quality Review meetings as part of continuous improvement.
Give input to QMS Center of Excellence team to improve QMS audit checklists.

Team management:

Lead the team and provide direction on execution / implementation of tasks by prioritizing functional and organizational goals accordingly.
Build a strong and motivated team, ensure the right people are in place to foster positive team spirit and facilitate teamwork across the Safety function.
Assess the performance of all direct reports, encouraging effective collaboration and hold them accountable to various KPIs/SLAs.
Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.

Collaborate closely with various cross functional teams for Audit and Quality Assurance requirements.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree/ Master’s Degree / Equivalent Aviation Vocational qualification
Experience

12+ years of Experience into Aviation which should include 8 years of experience in Quality Management Systems Auditing in aviation.
