  1. Job Purpose
  • Oversee and manage the compliance monitoring/ auditing process for training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards set by DGCA and BCAS, maintaining meticulous documentation of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive training compliance strategies, including the design and delivery of complex training programs tailored to meet regulatory requirements and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain robust processes for monitoring and interpreting changes in aviation laws, regulations, and guidance, ensuring timely adjustments to training content and delivery methods to reflect evolving compliance mandates.
  • Ensure all training programs, including initial and recurrent training for various departments (airports, call centers, etc.), comply with internal and external regulations. This includes updating training manuals, conducting quality audits, and implementing corrective actions to maintain high standards
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory training stakeholders, collaborating to identify training needs, forecast timelines, and address any compliance-related concerns, while also providing expert guidance to internal teams on compliance matters.
  • Managing all communication with the Competent Authority regarding any regulatory or compliance issue affecting the operation of the Boeing FSTD’s.
  • Managing all compliance activities related to the arrangement of  Boeing FSTD initial and recurrent qualification evaluations, any new or changes to FSTD build standard, deactivation, relocation, major failures or safety issues of a qualified device. 
  • Ensure the company’s Compliance Management Manual (CMM) and Simulator Operations Procedure Manual (SOPM) are maintained to meet the Boeing FSTD Regulatory requirements. This includes the development and implementation of SOPM procedures.
  • Providing oversight to Boeing simulator engineering to ensure that the QTG schedules are maintained, and all documentation required to be available for a Competent Authority inspection is produced. 
  • Prepare Boeing FSTD compliance data to be presented at the quarterly Safety and Compliance Review Board 
  • Act as primary point of contact with the Regulator in the event of a Boeing simulator incident or ERP activation 
  • Building a relationship with the Air India compliance team, including the Compliance with of the Airbus (Air India) training centre – to support Air India’s overall SMS and CMS compliance.

  1. Key Accountabilities

Audit Management:

  • Develop and implement audit protocols and procedures for training programs to ensure adherence to DGCA and BCAS regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of training materials, processes, and documentation to identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of audit findings, corrective actions, and follow-up activities to ensure continuous improvement in training compliance.

Compliance Strategy Development:

  • Lead the development of training compliance strategies aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and deliver training programs that meet regulatory standards while enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of changes in aviation laws, regulations, and guidance, and proactively adjust training content and delivery methods to ensure ongoing compliance.

Training Program Oversight:

 

  • Ensure all training programs for airport stations, call centers, and other departments comply with internal and external regulations and standards.

 

  • Conduct regular quality audits of training programs and implement corrective actions to maintain and improve training standards.

 

  • Assist with updates to training manuals and procedures, ensuring they reflect current best practices and regulatory requirements.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory training stakeholders, fostering collaborative relationships and addressing compliance-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Partner with internal departments to identify training needs, forecast timelines, and prioritize compliance initiatives in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to internal teams on compliance matters, offering training and resources to ensure understanding and adherence to regulatory standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of training compliance activities, including audit reports, training materials, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting compliance performance, areas of improvement, and recommended actions.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for regulatory audits and inspections, facilitating timely responses to inquiries and requests for information.


Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.

  • Direct supervisor overseeing training compliance and audit activities. Provides guidance, support, and resources for achieving compliance objectives.

Head of Training, Air India Boeing ATO

  • Work under the supervision for overseeing training compliance and audit activities. Provides guidance, support, and resources for achieving compliance objectives.

Training Compliance & Audit Team

  • Collaborative team responsible for executing audit and compliance tasks. Works closely with the Head to ensure training programs meet regulatory standards.

External Interfaces

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)

  • Interacts with regulatory authorities to understand and comply with aviation training regulations. Provides necessary documentation and reports to demonstrate compliance with DGCA standards.

Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS)

 

  • Engages with BCAS to ensure training programs meet security-related regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates on audits and inspections to verify compliance with BCAS standards.
  1. Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Safety, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree/ diploma in a relevant discipline.

  • At least 10 years of experience in aviation training compliance and audit roles, preferably within the airline industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory standards set by DGCA and BCAS.
  • Experience as a Simulator Maintenance engineer or compliance support of FSTD maintenance
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of DGCA FSTD regulations
  • Knowledge of FSTD technology and maintenance practices 
  • 12 years of experience in aviation training compliance and audit roles.
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing training programs to meet regulatory standards. Prior experience in leadership or managerial roles within a training compliance department.
