    • To carry out efficient defect analysis and resolution within the engineering domain.
    • Implement proactive defect tracking and analysis methodologies, leveraging engineering principles to swiftly identify and address aircraft defects, thereby maintaining operational integrity and minimizing downtime.
     
       

    Job Purpose

 

  1. Strategic Activities

    • Monitor the short-term trend of maintenance defects occurring at the Line Maintenance level through Maintenance Log entries, PIREPS, and aircraft Post-Flight Report Summaries.
    • Utilize maintenance management software to control and track defects, liaising with clients and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) providers for defect rectification.
    • Proactively monitor aircraft system failure messages, issuing troubleshooting instructions promptly to prevent operational disruptions or Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations.

     

    Troubleshooting and Resolution

    • Develop troubleshooting strategies and plans to address complex, intransient, and recurring defects, leveraging published technical data and computerized troubleshooting tools.
    • Monitor all Open Minimum Equipment List (MEL) items and deferred defects, providing troubleshooting recommendations and following progress in the Maintenance Information System.

     

     

     
       

    Key Accountabilities

 

 

  • Coordinate additional technical assistance and the provision of documentation and test equipment/tooling from external resources such as aircraft manufacturers, Technical Services, and suppliers.
     

Operational Support and Coordination:

  • Coordinate to procure and deliver parts required to rectify open defects or AOG situations, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
  • Compile necessary task-level data and instructions for MROs to action repairs or troubleshooting efficiently, facilitating swift resolution of technical issues.
  • Ensure detailed logbook turnover to the next shift group for seamless continuity of operations, particularly addressing issues affecting aircraft operations.
     

Safety Compliance and Reporting:

  • Actively participate in Safety Management Systems (SMS) by ensuring the highest reasonable level of safety performance, complying with all applicable safety and security laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and hazards promptly to contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Elevate issues to superiors as necessary and adhere to company rules and regulations to maintain operational integrity and safety standards.

Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.

Internal Interfaces

Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Teams

  • Collaborate closely with MRO teams to communicate defect analysis findings and coordinate repair and troubleshooting efforts. Ensure seamless information exchange and efficient resolution of technical issues to minimize aircraft downtime.

External Interfaces

Vendors/OEMs/Regulatory Authorities 

  • Liaise with TSD and various OEM for Technical defects.
  • Liaise with subcontracted AMO to assist with troubleshooting advice or any other technical issue

 

 

  1. Educational and Experience Requirements

 

Minimum Education requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in related field is preferrable.
  • B1 / B2 License on Airbus or Boeing Aircraft.

Experience

Minimum

Desired

  • 3-4 years of technical experience in system defects, failure analysis/debug, etc.
  • Extensive experience in defects database management and reporting.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in system defects, failure analysis/debug, etc.
  • Extensive experience in failure and root cause analysis of PC and PC sub- systems for an aviation industry.
