Job Description

A.    Job Purpose
•    Safety Manager will be a DGCA postholder for the flying training organization and be responsible for adherence of all safety aspects to regulatory and airline standards. The postholder will serve as the same for all regulatory certifications, including FTO and CAO organizations.
•    The Safety Manager will hold the key responsibility to conduct safety, audits, develop and implement the Safety Management System, conduct all safety trainings, and also ensure Quality Assurance in training and maintenance.
B.    Key Accountabilities
•    The postholder will be responsible for:
o    Promoting a culture of safety and high priority of safety considerations
o    Overseeing the safety of operations on a day-to-day basis
o    Performing reviews for hazard identification and risk analysis and to identify risk avoidance and/or mitigation strategies
o    Monitoring of processes and procedures to determine their effectiveness in avoiding or managing risk objectives, are made available to all personnel through established
o    communication processes.
o    Maintaining proper respective records and documentation
o    Submission of periodic safety reports to management officials
o    Monitoring safety issues within the Aviation Industry and their possible impact
o    Provide advice on safety matters and assist employees, as necessary.
o    Assess health, facility and property risk factors and identify avoidance strategies and corrective action plans to reduce or eliminate hazards in the workplace.
o    Coordinating and communicating on behalf of the Accountable Manager with regulatory and certification authorities relating to safety.
o    Manage the Safety Management System (SMS) and shall be the individual and focal point responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective SMS.
o    Ensure safety promotion throughout the organization.
o    Conduct periodic safety meetings for cadets, flight instructors, and other employees.
o    Prepare and maintain a comprehensive Emergency Response Plan.
o    Coordinate with other departments to ensure the auditing of all safety equipment including fire fighting equipment.
•    Safety Manager is responsible for development, implementation of the Safety Management System
•    The Safety Manager will also be responsible for Quality Assurance of training and maintenance and conducting respective audits for adherence
•    SM will be responsible for ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations by performing the necessary audits and inspections, including flight data analysis

F.    Educational and Experience Requirements
Education requirements    
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or licensed AME or ATPL or ATCO
Degree in Aeronautical Engineering/AME/ATPL holder 

Experience    •    10+ years of experience in operations and minimum 5 years of experience in auditing & safety management, flight data analysis, risk assessment, aviation safety compliances

•    Prior experience in DGCA-approved positions in FTOs/ ATOs/ Airlines/ NSOPs in India

•    Prior experience in development and implementation of safety management systems of FTO/Airline Operator/Other Operator      15+ years experience in operations and minimum 10 years of experience in auditing & safety management, flight data analysis, risk assessment, accident investigations

•    Prior experience with training aircrafts

•    Prior experience as postholder for DGCA

•    Should be trained in Safety Management system as per Para 1 Appendix B of CAR Section 1 Series C Part 

•    Knowledge of Human factors
