  1. Job Purpose
  • To strategically lead the development and optimization of Air India Express's seasonal scheduling, ensuring it is closely aligned with the airline's broader strategic, operational, and commercial objectives.
  • To oversee the entire process of integrating and coordinating seasonal schedules across various internal departments and external stakeholders to maximize efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  1. Key Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive seasonal scheduling strategies that support Air India Express's business goals, such as revenue targets and fleet utilization balanced against financial and operational constraints

Operational Excellence

  • Direct the coordination with Crew Planning, Engineering, and Airport Operations teams to efficiently implement seasonal schedules, ensuring minimal disruptions and optimal resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure that network plans are operationally feasible and optimized for cost efficiency.

Schedule Optimization

  • Utilize advanced scheduling software to refine schedules continuously, based on aircraft availability, market demands, and operational requirements. Oversee the monitoring and analysis of performance metrics to drive continuous improvements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with code-share partners, airport authorities, and regulatory bodies to enhance route connectivity, operational logistics, and compliance with regulations.

Team Management

  • Lead and mentor the seasonal scheduling team, fostering a collaborative environment, enhancing capabilities, and ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the airline.

Head of Network Planning

  • Directly report and closely collaborate to ensure seasonal schedules are fully aligned with the broader network strategies and objectives.
  • Regularly provide updates and receive strategic guidance to integrate seasonal planning with long-term network goals.

 

Marketing / Corporate Communications / E-Commerce

  • Engage to ensure that the network changes / new route launches are adequately marketed

 

Customer Excellence

  • Engage to ensure that network change communications are aligned

 

Engineering

  • Coordinate to ensure that the network plan is operationally feasible, aligning flight schedules with aircraft availability.

 

Airport Operations

  • Coordinate to ensure that the network plan is operationally feasible, aligning flight schedules with airport resource availability

 

Operations
(Cabin Crew, Pilots, Inflight Services, IOCC etc..)

  • Coordinate to ensure that the network plan is operationally feasible, aligning flight schedules with crew and aircraft availability.

 

 Cargo

  • Align network strategy with the airline's broader commercial goals and transformation initiatives.

 

External Interfaces

Government / Airport / Regulatory Authorities

  • Engage with to secure necessary approvals and maintain compliance with aviation standards
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with key external stakeholders to optimize operational efficiencies, enhance service delivery, and ensure compliance with international regulations.

 

Airline Partners

  • Collaborate on joint ventures and codeshare agreements to expand network reach.

 

       

 

  1. Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business Administration or Aviation Management or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

  • 7-8 years’ experience in airline scheduling or network planning, with a significant focus on managing seasonal variations.
  • 10-12+ years’ experience in the aviation industry with at least 5+ years focused experience in a leadership role within airline operations, demonstrating successful strategic planning and execution of complex scheduling tasks.
